UK: CEG scoops two education accolades
Nov 14, 2014 by Katie Duncan
Cambridge Education Group (CEG) has reason to celebrate this week after winning the ‘School operator – private schools groups’ category at the Education Investor (EI) Awards and its independent school CATS College Canterbury being awarded the ‘Boarding Initiative’ title at the Independent School Awards.
The EI Awards, held at the Hilton Park Lane in London, saw CEG beat off competition from Astrum Education, Minerva Education and Oxford International College of Changzhou.
“CEG is again delighted to be recognised in this way – in both the EI Awards and for CATS College Canterbury in the Independent School Awards, held on the same evening across the UK,” Fergus Brownlee, CEO, CEG told The PIE News.
“It is a testament to our hard work, due diligence and continuing investment in this fast expanding but very diverse global market place that we are able to shine,” he added.
In the 5th Annual Independent School Awards, which celebrate excellence in the private sector across the UK, the judges commended CATS College for its pastoral care of international students, including a “Tell Us” button which initiates immediate student feedback.
“Although already rated an excellent international boarding school by ISI, CATS College Canterbury implemented a range of ideas that went back to the basics of what international students need and would make them feel cared for miles from home,” remarked the judges.
CATS College was also shortlisted for Outstanding Senior Leadership Team of the Year 2014, while CEG as a group was a finalist for the ‘Higher or professional’ title at the EI Awards.
CEG operates three other academic colleges in London, Cambridge and Boston as well as university pathways in the UK and US. It also offers programmes in English language, creative arts, junior English and activity courses.
Last year it was acquired by Bridgepoint Capital for an enterprise value of £185 million.
