ICEF Monitor – Shifting currencies expected to drive growth for more affordable destinations

Here are the highlights:
- Currency values play an important role in shaping demand for study abroad
- We are seeing reports of actual and projected shifts in student mobility in response to dramatic (i.e., 30% or more) changes in currency exchange rates
- Two recent examples are Canada, which is expected to attract more American students in 2016/17, and Russia, which anticipates continued enrolment growth from European and Asian markets in 2016
- Both destinations have seen their currencies fall off by about 30% against the US dollar
