ICEF Monitor – US and UK losing market share to regional destinations
4 Mar 2016
Here are the highlights:
- A new report highlights that the world’s leading study destinations – the US and UK – will continue to see their market share of internationally mobile students decline through 2025
- This is largely a result of emerging study destinations claiming a greater share of international students, and of the increasing proportion of intra-regional mobility – that is, the growing numbers of students who go abroad but stay within their home regions
- China is projected to remain the leading sending market in 2025, followed by India
- Markets in Southeast Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the Middle East are forecast to be the main growth drivers otherwise through the next decade
