Background

From its establishment in 1908 in Melbourne’s eastern suburb, Swinburne has grown from being a local provider of technical education into a multi-disciplined, multi-campus provider of higher education. Swinburne is a progressive university that aims to increase Australia’s capacity in science, technology and innovation as the drivers of modern, internationalised economies and workplaces.

Swinburne’s teaching staff uses a number of innovative methods to promote understanding of the students chosen course. While studying with Swinburne, any individual will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of lectures, tutorials, laboratory and studio sessions, group work, cross discipline projects, case studies, practical sessions, discussion groups and individual research projects, depending on their area of study. Students are also encouraged to participate in culturally diverse study groups and to take responsibility for their own learning.
